Floating man : ウィキペディア英語版 | Floating man Floating man or man suspended in air (Persian:انسان معلق درفضا) is an argument by Avicenna for the existence of the soul. The argument is used to argue for the knowledge by presence. ==Background== It has been said that Avicenna wrote the argument while imprisoned in the castle of Fardajan. He reached to the conclusion that the soul is immaterial and substantial. He also claimed that humans can not be denied their consciousness and awareness. According to Avicenna the floating man could attain to the concept of being without any sense experience.
